When we decided to build these homes for ourselves we decided we were going to all out and use only the highest quality materials. When crafting these homes, we used our "quality first" method of building to ensure that they are built to last.  Products and materials were carefully researched and chosen, customized for our situation, and professionally installed by experienced craftsmen.  These homes are CA state certified and is considered a permanent structure once installed. Below is a brief overview of how we craft these homes.

The Containers:

• These homes are built from unused shipping containers recycling approximately 8,000lbs of steel. It’s carefully designed to have a smaller environmental footprint than other housing options

• These containers are built to be inherently strong and the outside structure of a standard shipping container is made from marine-grade corten steel, so it can weather sea transportation and has its own fire-retardant properties.

• 1 1/4” tongue and groove subfloor is secured with screws and construction adhesive directly to the steel joists, to provide a perfectly flat and strong subfloor to build on.

The Interior Structure:

• Wood frame construction with 2x4 walls and 2x4 ceiling rafters all 16” on center.

• These homes are built to ensure proper snow load is accounted for, and is designed and built to live in any climate, with proper air ventilation accounted for.

• The windows are premium double pane vinyl windows. All windows have tempered glass and window screens. You can't find a better window in its class!

Comfort:

• Closed cell foam insulation. This insulation provides an R-value of 23 in the walls, floor and in the roof. Closed sell foam has good fire-proof and sound-proofing qualities, and is much higher quality than fiberglass insulation.

• Heat source:

  • Electric 120v (20’ Skyhawk) or 240v (40’ - Ductless mini-split system with A/C & heat pump

Utilities and Hookups:

• Built with a 200 amp solar ready sub panel

• Built with a standard city water inlet, waste line and electric.

Exterior / Interior Finishes and Materials:

• The interior walls are fire rated 5/8 gypsum board per CA code.

• All the paint is a high quality, all natural, zero VOC, zero emissions, certified asthma and allergy friendl.

• All cabinets are Natural 3/4” and 1/2” Solid plywood with shaker style white fronts.

• All lighting is low voltage LED.

• Countertops are all solid surface.
